Spiritual Space Construction

    Co-founded by Yi Chen and Muchen Zhang in 2002, Fenghemuchen is a space design practice based in Beijing, China with a branch in Vancouver, Canada, offering space design services in the fields of real estate, tourism, art, education, and religion. Expressing faith by space, focusing on the soul in space, and taking eternal spirituality as part of spiritual pursuit, Fenghemuchen is a creative design company that pushes for cultural extension and artistic communication while fully respecting the balanced relationship between man and space in spiritual level.

    Since its establishment, the design works of Fenghemuchen have won plenty of international prizes and awards, including Red Dot Award “Best of the Best”, A’ Design Award “Platinum Award”, iF Award, German Design Award, Inside Award, IDEA Award, Interior Design Best of Year Award, Restaurant and Bar Design Awards, LICC, Andrew Martin International Interior Design Awards, SIDS Interior Design Awards, etc., which have been reported by media home and abroad.

    Both of them have been graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and their artistic creation has continued since 1994. They started to engage in space design in 2000 and co-created Beijing Fenghemuchen in 2002. In 2005, they moved to Canada to start creation in Vancouver and Beijing. With diversified space design works, they have held many individual art exhibitions and space installation exhibitions. Over the years, they have gained a reputation in the design industry and won a lot of design awards both at home and abroad.

     Their design usually presents a wide and open multi-perspective, integrating East and West culture freely and appropriately, and interpreting oriental culture and its spiritual meaning in a fresher, more objective, and more recognizable way.

     The dual identities of artists and designers enable them to fully integrate the systematic aesthetic expression with space. Their design ideas never converge, with obvious differences and vitality.

    In addition to profession, their faith endows them with a determined spiritual pursuit. When it comes to space design, they show enthusiasm, perseverance, cautiousness, and calm, regarding design as a profession as well as a mission to focus on and cherish. The design concept of spiritual space design has been proposed and perfected in the long-term practice.

Concept

1/Creativity

Artistry creates a lasting sense of time

To highlight strong visual effects and convey clear aesthetic meaning, the design method is not limited to creativity, which breaks the boundary between art and non-art for diversifying integration and proper penetration of art. The cross-cultural characteristics of not following trends and styles make it unique and eternal with spiritual meaning.

Creativity keeps the space full of life in the market, bringing effective commercial value to customers. At the same time, the unique artistic nature makes the space more accurate, diverse, and effective in terms of cultural expression, interpretation, and communication.

2/Quality 

Controlling shapes the interior architecture

With excellent control of design, Fenghemuchen can properly balance the combination of the design concept, creative output, and artistic expression in the space. And the controlling is also reflected in a more accurate and unique interpretation of the environment, space, materials, technology, cultural background, and other elements.

The designers insist on using simple, environmentally friendly, and sustainable materials, and keeping to expanding their applications so that the new look of basic materials has a totally different spiritual experience from the past. It expresses "space" in solid form, and shapes "emptiness" in virtual form, and finally completes the interior architecture.

The quality created by controlling ensures efficient and intensive realization of customer needs, and maintains high-quality and stable output for the continuously updated market needs, so as to achieve excellent market competition for customers.

3/ Sense of texture

the living body lays a "seeing" path

Regarded as a spiritual individual to pursue its eternity, the project becomes an independent living body with spirituality, and also serves as a path to help people "see", opening up a broad and different angle of view, from which one can look back at oneself, observe the city,  and explore the world through space.

Give the space dynamic and spiritual states, emotions, and thoughts, and then use excellent control to make a comprehensive design expression for it; integrate it with the environment, people, and time, and finally complete the space, making it a dynamic changing, and growing living body.

The sense of texture gives the space the energy to create a spiritual experience, to realize the space function in the non-stop interaction with people, and produce commercial value; to participate in the thinking and spirit shaping of people, and reflect its social value in the community and even the city; to take part in the long term cultural development progress, and enables space to provide corresponding cultural value.
